OPSEU Local 237 – News Release
It is with heartfelt sadness that we need to let you know that one of our dedicated Conestoga College faculty OPSEU members, Amy Stiles, was killed in a car accident on her way home from the province wide OPSEU rally held at Queens Park, Toronto, yesterday afternoon, (2nd November 2017).
The impact of her loss will be most acutely felt by her husband, three young sons, family, and many friends. We wish to convey our genuine sympathy and condolence for Amy's family at this time of intense shock and grief.
Amy worked for Conestoga College as a Coordinator in the Personal Support Program based in Schlegel Villages, Riverside Glen, near Guelph. This is a living classroom environment where faculty and students work very closely together to support patients. Amy exemplified all that is good in a hard working, dedicated, compassionate and highly skilled professional teacher and carer.
At tragic moments such as this, we pause and take stock of what really matters in life, and as we do so let us give thanks that Amy leaves a legacy of love, of compassion, and of devotion to family, to friends, and to her profession.
As a mark of respect picketing duties today have been cancelled on all Conestoga sites.
Once additional details are available the union will make a further statement.
Thank you for your support, dedication, sympathies, and prayers for Amy and her family.
